The Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson Trio

Program

American Record Guide enthuses, “It’s a rare luxury to hear music-making of such integrity and joy.” Since making their debut at the White House for President Carter’s inauguration in 1977, the Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson Trio has set the standard for performance of piano trio literature, at many of the world’s major concert halls. Their 2015-16 season featured premiere performances of a new Trio by David Ludwig, commissioned specifically for them; Schubert’s “Trout” Quintet with members of the Philadephia Orchestra; and a Beethoven trio cycle in Miami. The group celebrates its 40th anniversary during the 2016-17 season with performances including a reprise of their White House program of Mendelssohn and Schubert, with a specially commissioned work by Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Ellen Taaffe Zwilich.

Ellen Taaffe Zwilich, Pas de Trois
Dmitri Shostakovich, Piano Trio No. 2 in E Minor, Op. 67
Johannes Brahms, Trio for Piano, Violin, and Cello in B Major, Op. 8
